Stobreč's location
Stobreč is a small, picturesque seaside Mediterranean town situated on a peninsula above a shallow sandy bay, where the Žrnovnica River flows into the sea. It’s surrounded by the nearby islands of Brač and Šolta to the south, the ancient city of Split to the west, and Mosor mountain with Perun Hill to the north, creating a natural amphitheatre.
It is only 7 kilometres away from Split’s old town and it’s 1,700 year old UNESCO World Heritage site of Diocletian's Palace. The Adriatic Highway (D8) connects Stobreč with nearby towns in the east and west, and it’s only a 10-15 minute drive from the A1 (Dalmatina) highway towards the Dugopolje exitx which connects travelers to major destinations like Zagreb, Istria and Dubrovnik.
Stobreč administratively belongs to the city of Split, the second largest city in Croatia, with a population of 160,000. However, although part of the city of Split, with just 3,000 residents, Stobreč still retains the special charm and spirit of a small Mediterranean village.
